The Board of County Commissioners is a five-member body, with each commissioner elected to represent one of Columbia County's five districts. The Board sets county policy, appoints a County Manager to oversee daily operations, adopts the millage rate, and approves the annual budget.
Regular Meetings
Held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at the Columbia County School Board Administrative Complex Auditorium, 372 West Duval Street, Lake City, FL 32055 (unless otherwise noted).

Public Participation
The Board welcomes public input. To speak on an agenda item, contact the County Manager at (386) 758-1005 at least two weeks in advance. Unscheduled comments are allowed after the Pledge of Allegiance — complete a citizen input card before the meeting.
County Attorney
Joel Foreman
Mr. Foreman graduated from the University of Florida College of Law and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2005. He was elected County Attorney in 2014 and began serving in 2015.
The County Attorney represents Columbia County and the Board in legal matters but does not serve as a public defender or provide legal aid in civil cases.
Mr. Foreman maintains a private practice for civil matters not involving the County.
