New Policy Lowers Field Rental Fees for Local Travel Teams

The Columbia County Board of County Commissioners has approved a new resolution updating park rules and field rental fees, including a significant benefit for local youth sports teams.

Lake City, FL – The Columbia County Board of County Commissioners has approved a new resolution updating park rules and field rental fees, including a significant benefit for local youth sports teams.

Under the new policy, travel ball teams comprising at least 80% Columbia County students or homeschoolers can now qualify as “Columbia County Teams” and rent practice fields for just $100 per season, a significant reduction from the $300 monthly fee charged to other teams. The policy aims to ensure fair field access, maintain facility integrity, and prioritize the needs of Columbia County youth athletes.

“This update is about supporting our local athletes and making practice space more accessible for Columbia County families,” said Clint Pitman, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Teams must submit proof of eligibility and sign a facility use agreement to qualify. The policy takes effect for the upcoming fall and spring seasons.
