About the Purchasing Department
The Columbia County Purchasing Department ensures compliance with Florida Statutes and the
County Purchasing Policies and Procedures
.
It assists Department Heads and Staff with procurement, purchasing procedures, and policy interpretation. The department prepares bid documents for sealed bids, maintains standard documents, provides information to bidders, and opens and tabulates sealed bids.
Columbia County Government includes several independently managed agencies that maintain their own purchasing functions:
- Sheriff's Department
- Tax Collector
- Clerk of the Circuit Court
- Supervisor of Elections
- Property Appraiser
Vendor Registration
The Board encourages participation from all qualified vendors (except those on the State Department of Management Services Convicted Vendor List).
To be added to the County's Bidder's List, please provide your firm name, commodity/service type, contact person, address, phone, fax, email, and any other relevant information.
It is the vendor's responsibility to keep contact information current.

How to Stay Informed About Bids
- Formal bids exceeding $25,000 are published in the Lake City Reporter Classified Section under "Legal".
- Visit the Purchasing Division (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday) to review open bids and request packages. Fees may apply based on production costs.

Bid Opening Location & Schedule
Bids are publicly opened on the date and time specified in the bid documents and advertisement, typically in the Conference Room of the Board of County Commissioners Office:
